The IMG facility has eleven rehearsal studios (approx 10' x 10'), one large rehearsal studio (10' x 20'), and three large classrooms (30' x 20') , suitable for groups up to 20. There is a digital audio production room and a 100+ seat concert hall with stage, grand piano, lighting and PA. Audio recording is possible in the concert hall and some of the studios, with quality microphones and digital processing equipment. In addition to the music spaces, there is an office, library, kitchen and lounge area. All the facilities can be rented by members at discounted rates for their own events and activities, subject to availability. Members are invited to drop by to use the library, listen to archived material or simply have a coffee and chat with others.

Bookings can be made by calling the front office 780 6911 during business hours (10am-4pm, Mon to Fri). Payment is required in advance for all one-off bookings. Reservations will be held for one week after being entered into the calendar. A cancellation fee of 10% is applied for bookings cancelled later than 10 days before the reservation.

*Public Concert Events are charged at $50 + $25 per hour (20% member discount applies)

Policies and Procedures:

  • Bookings should be made by phone, please call 206 780 6911 during business hours. Reservations will be indicated on the event calendar.

  • For all group  activities and rehearsals, one member can invite up to 3 non-member guests  otherwise, non-member pricing applies.

  • When possible, we are pleased make our facilities available to non-members for conferences etc., but music-events will always take priority in the case of conflict at the time of booking.

  • As a general guideline, we do not book the concert hall for loud or amplified music during weekdays from noon to 6:30pm, because of ongoing teaching activities in adjacent studios

  • There is a strict no-noise ordnance from 10pm every night.

  • For concerts, adequate time must be booked before and after the performance to allow for set-up before and clean-up after the event.

  • All facilities to be left clean and tidy. Instructions are clearly posted around the building.

  • Payment for one-off event booking is required in advance - reservations will be held for 10 days by which time payment must be received and receipt will be issued.

  • A 10% cancellation fee will be applied if a booking is cancelled within 10 days of the event.

The Allen Strange Production Studio is the hub of recording at the IMG. A selection of high quality microphones, cables and digital (PC based) recording and processing equipment is available for recording projects. Members can use the facilities for their own recording purposes, and tariffs are given below. The IMG  provides the means for making high-quality recordings in a performance situation. Some offsite recording services are also offered - call for 206 780-6911 for all recording and audio services or e-mail info@islandmusic.org

We can also help with general audio services, such as transfer from Cassette to CD, or clean-up of vinyl recordings. Call to ask about this or any other general audio questions. Also, IMG may be able to assist with publishing, offering advice and the use of the IMG Media label for CD duplication and sales projects. MIDI and Electronic music classes are also regularly run.   • Procedures and Charges are based on renting of Concert Hall (or other room) as recording area plus the Production Room.

  • Booking is subject to convenient timing for recording (quietness etc)

  • *Members may use their own engineer. Guild will support members where possible with some basic coaching for a designated/capable member, responsible for engineering. 

  • For post-production work, members can rent the Production Studio for $12 per hour.

  • Each session will be archived to CD – data cannot be left on the IMG hard drives for an unlimited time.
