Bainbridge Island Cello Teachers

Taylor Jensen

Taylor is an American cellist with a career in recording and performing music spanning all genres, from classical and avant-garde jazz to singer-songwriter and folk rock. She holds a Bachelor of Musical Arts from the University of Michigan’s School of Music, Theatre, and Dance, notably having studied with Professors Richard Aaron, Ed Sarath, and Miles Okazaki.

Taylor merges her technique from a conservatory education with her passion for multi-genre composition and improvisation, which has led her to perform across the country and internationally on tour and at music festivals, including South by Southwest (SXSW, Austin, TX), Iceland Airwaves (Reykjavik), the College Music Journal Marathon (New York, NY), Capital Hill Block Party (Seattle, WA), and Bumbershoot (Seattle, WA), among several others. A seasoned session cellist, Taylor’s distinct melodic lines, lush string arrangements and warm, clear tone are featured on over a decade’s worth of records. She currently serves as the principal cellist of the Bainbridge Symphony Orchestra.

Taylor welcomes students of all abilities and is particularly passionate about embracing and celebrating learning differences. Her teaching philosophy centers on creating a strong technical foundation to facilitate musical and artistic freedom (and fun!) with the cello.
